What can I do When my Baby is Sick?

There is nothing more worrisome to a parent than a sick infant or child.  I know this, I had three children of my own and I STILL worry about them even though they are adults and have children of their own.

If you are nursing your baby, you are giving him or her the very BEST of everything as long as your diet is healthy and packed with nutrition.  Your baby will most likely grow well, and be able to fight off most disease with the nutrition found in your own milk.  However, there may be times when he or she does contract something.  It is possible to administer medicinal herbs to your infant through your own milk.  The mother must drink 4-6 cups of the herbal tea daily.  If you are not nursing, the teas or tinctures can be added directly to bottles.  There are several good resources for dosages, Young’s Rule, add 12 to the child’s age, divide the child’s age by this total: for example: for a 4 year old- 4 divided by 16 = .25 or 1/4 of the adult dose. Providing high quality medicinal herbs for your child is always the safest and best way to help your child’s body defend against disease, and grow.
